The community of Marshfield serves the communities of Marshfield and Castleton, a population of over 6,000. It sits in the designated green belt between Newport and Cardiff. It is a rural location but with the relatively recent addition of much modern housing stock.

St. Mary’s is set on a country lane amongst fields, just off the main road through Marshfield. It dates from the 12th century and has extensive grounds including a graveyard.
